BELGRADE, May 9, 2019 – APC/CZA successfully secured asylum in the Republic of Serbia for a member of the LGBT community for the second time, this time fleeing persecution in Iran.
During the asylum procedure that lasted for more than nine months, it was established that the asylum application was well-founded due to the excessive physical attacks, apprehensions, detention, and job discrimination that the individual experienced.
After numerous testimonies made by the asylum seeker, the officials in the Ministry of Internal Affairs that were responsible for the conduction of this asylum procedure completed the case by recognizing the legal asylum status of this individual.
Throughout this long and arduous process, APC/CZA team continually provided legal and psychosocial support to this Iranian, greatly aiding his successful application and making the transition to his new life in Serbia.
