Belgrade, 01/11/2022-In a guest appearance on TV Vesti, at Dušica Spasić, the director of our center, Radoš Djurović, was a guest. He spoke about the current situation regarding asylum and migration in Serbia. At the same time, we presented data on the number of people who sought asylum in 2021, on new migrant routes to Serbia, on the state of camps in the country, as well as on the conditions in which migrants and refugees are found in the open along the borders with Hungary, Croatia and Romania, as well as in other urban places across the country.
The ineffectiveness of the asylum procedure in the country and difficult access to the asylum procedure were particularly emphasized. According to official statistics, just 13 people received asylum out of 2,030 who were registered as the asylum seekers in Serbia. According to estimates by Asylum Protection Center, at least 40,000 people entered the country last year, most of whom managed to continue their journey to the EU countries.
